India launches consultation on standards review for food products and additives

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is inviting comments and suggestions for the modification of existing/inclusion of new standards for food products and additives in response to calls from stakeholders for their review.
The existing standards for food products and additives have been set out in the Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards and Food Additives) Regulation 2011 but are substantially the same as those in the country's former Prevention of Adulteration Rules 1995, which was repealed in August last year.
The deadline for comments and suggestions is 31 March 2012.
