China establishes high level food safety commission

The Chinese State Council announced last week the establishment of a Chinese Food Safety Commission, as part of the new food safety law.
According to the Xinhua news report, this follows a number of melamine tainted milk cases that have re-emerged on the market. The news report also states that the new Food Safety Commission should play its role in ensuring that enterprises abide by the laws and regulations.
